Dosko

5 Products

Dosko builds stump grinders and nothing else, which is why they are the deepest grinder line we carry. Five machines running Honda commercial engines from 6 to 20 horsepower, covering everything from a foldable mini you can lift into a truck to a hydrostatic self-propelled machine built for tree services.

The 200-6HC is the small one, a 6HP Honda GX200 turning a 9-5/8 inch cutter wheel with Greenteeth 500 series teeth, taking stumps 10 inches above grade and 9 below at just 134 pounds with a fold-down handlebar. It is the only grinder we sell that one person can load alone.

The 337 pair is the working middle. Both run a 13HP Honda GX390 on a 14-inch cutter wheel, taking 20 inches above grade and 16 below, and the 337 is narrow enough to roll through a standard gate. The 337S adds a swivel head so you sweep the wheel across the stump without moving the machine, which saves real time on a big stump.

At the top, the 620-20HE puts a 20HP Honda GX630 electric start in a walk-behind frame, and the 691SP-20HE adds hydrostatic self-propelled drive so the 500-pound machine moves itself around the site. That one takes 24 inches above grade and 18 below, the deepest cut in our range.

Why Dosko

  • Grinder Specialists: Five models from one manufacturer who makes only stump grinders.
  • Honda Commercial Power: GX200, GX390 and GX630 engines across the range.
  • Up to 18 Inches Below Grade: Deeper than anything else we carry.
  • Gate-Friendly Options: The 337 fits through a standard gate, the 200-6HC folds for transport.

How to Choose a Dosko Stump Grinder

  • Stump Size: The mini handles 10 inches above grade. The 337 pair take 20 inches, and the self-propelled 691SP takes 24.
  • How Deep: 9 inches is enough to plant grass. 16 to 18 inches removes the root crown for paving or building.
  • Getting It There: 134 pounds loads by hand. 500 pounds needs a ramp, or a self-propelled drive.
  • How Often: Occasional use suits the 337. Daily grinding justifies the 20HP machines and the swivel head.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Dosko make?

Dosko builds walk-behind stump grinders, and that is the whole focus. The range runs from the 6HP 200-6HC at $2,973 up to the 20HP self-propelled 691SP-20HE at $10,984, and every machine in it uses a Honda engine. If you are grinding stumps professionally, or grinding enough of them that machine reliability matters more than purchase price, this is the brand to look at.

Which Dosko stump grinder should I buy?

Work up from how much grinding you actually do. The 200-6HC at $2,973 is a 6HP Honda GX200 that folds for transport, which suits occasional stumps and tight access. The 337-13HC at $5,650 steps to a 13HP GX390 with a 14-inch cutter wheel, and the 337S-13HC at $5,968 adds sweep action. The 620-20HE at $7,845 runs a 20HP GX630 with electric start for sustained work. The 691SP-20HE at $10,984 is the same 20HP engine with hydrostatic self-propelled drive, and it is the machine for a crew doing this every day.

What does swivel or sweep action do on a stump grinder?

On a fixed grinder you reposition the whole machine to move the cutter across the stump. A swivel or sweep-action machine pivots the cutter head through an arc while the wheels stay planted, so you sweep across the stump instead of shuffling the machine. That is faster, and more importantly it is far less tiring, because repositioning a heavy grinder dozens of times is most of the physical work in the job. The 337S-13HC at $5,968 is the swivel version of the $5,650 337-13HC, so the feature costs about $318.

Is a self-propelled stump grinder worth nearly $11,000?

It depends entirely on whether this is your job or your weekend. The 691SP-20HE at $10,984 has hydrostatic drive, so the machine moves itself under power rather than being pushed and dragged into position. On a single stump that is a convenience. Across a full day of stump removal on uneven ground it is the difference between finishing strong and finishing exhausted, and for a crew that translates directly into stumps per day. If you grind stumps for a living, it pays back. If you have four stumps in your garden, the 200-6HC does the same job.

Is electric start worth having on a stump grinder?

On the larger machines, yes. The 620-20HE and 691SP-20HE both use a 20HP Honda GX630, and pull-starting a twin of that size repeatedly through a working day is genuinely hard work. Stump grinding also involves a lot of stop-start, because you shut down to move between stumps and to clear debris, so you are not starting the engine once a day; you are starting it many times. Electric start earns its place on machines this size in a way it does not on a 6HP unit.

How deep will a Dosko grinder go below the surface?

Grinding depth varies by model, and for most purposes you want to get 4 to 6 inches below grade, which any machine in this range will do. That is enough to plant grass over the spot or lay turf. If you intend to build, pave or plant a new tree in the same place, you need to go deeper and you need to deal with the lateral roots as well, which is a different job. Tell us what you are doing with the ground afterwards and we will point you at the right machine. Full range in our stump grinders collection.
